SoCon basketball media day postponed

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After careful considerations and in consultation with our member institutions and community partners, the Southern Conference has decided to postpone basketball media day, which was scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 1, due to weather conditions and traveling concerns in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to the incredible number of people who are enduring hardships and difficult circumstances in the wake of the hurricane and catastrophic flooding. Conducting basketball media day at this time is not appropriate with so many other important messages to be communicated and needs to be met,” SoCon Commissioner Michael Cross said. “We will be working to identify a new date for media day to ensure that we can have the best event possible for everyone involved. We will also continue to work with the SoCon’s leadership to support their student-athletes and coaches as they navigate the situations that emerge in coming days.”

More information on the event will be released at a later date.

Tickets to the Ingles SoCon Basketball Championship will not go on sale as originally scheduled for Tuesday. Updates will be available in the near future.
