VMI 13, Coppin State 2
VMI Baseball continues to dominate, earning its fourth double-digit run victory after defeating Coppin State at Joe Cannon Stadium on Saturday. The Keydets (6-0) remain undefeated after taking down the Eagles, 13-2, in seven innings. VMI has scored double figures in every game this season, accumulating 82 runs in six contests which is top five in the entire nation.
Mercer 7, Kent 6
The Mercer offense led the charge with 15 hits and the bullpen came up clutch in the final innings to help the Bears defeat Kent State by a score of 7-6 at OrthoGeorgia Park on Saturday afternoon. The win was the fifth in a row for the Bears and clinched a second consecutive series win. Bradley Frye (3-for-5), Ty Dalley (3-for-4) and Zack Thompson (3-for-4) all had three-hit performances, while Brant Baughcum (1-for-2) delivered a two-run homer to highlight a 3-RBI day in the batter's box.
Wofford 2, Army 1
Tied at one in the bottom of the ninth inning Saturday afternoon, Tyler Hare delivered a walk-off blast for the Wofford baseball team to secure a 2-1 victory over Army West Point at Russell C. King Field. The Terriers improve to 5-1 as the Black Knights fall to 1-4. In another pitchers' duel, each team only used two pitchers. Cullen Condon started for Wofford and turned in a gem, tossing 6.0 innings with just one run allowed on five hits and two walks.
UNCG 6, Virginia Tech 2
The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team earned a win in its first road test of the 2025 campaign, defeating the Virginia Tech Hokies, 6-2, on Saturday afternoon at English Field at Atlantic Union Bank Park. The Spartans got another solid outing on hill from senior right-handed pitcher Sam Murchison, who is now 2-0 on the young season. The Siler City, North Carolina, native pitched seven complete innings with six hits and two runs allowed while walking four and striking out five.
Tennessee 7, Samford 3
Tennessee's Levi Clark hit a grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a 3-3 tie and lift the fourth-ranked Volunteers to a 7-3 win over Samford in the second game of a three-game series Saturday afternoon at Lindsay Nelson Stadium. With the loss, Samford fell to 3-3 on the season. Tennessee improved to 6-0 with the win. Cameron Keshock started the game on the mound for Samford, pitching 5.0 strong innings, allowing just one run on three hits.
Maine 6, The Citadel 2
Matthew Lively kicked things off for the Bulldogs with an RBI triple to left center, scoring Phillips Daniels to make it a 1-0 game in the third inning.
Maine took the lead in the fourth from an RBI single through the right side to make it 2-1. Late life came from The Citadel as TJ Anderson hit an RBI single through the right side, which scored Matthew Lively to tie the game at 2-2 in the seventh inning. Maine scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning from a wild pitch that scored one, a 2-RBI single, and an RBI double to make it 6-2.
Maryland 35, Western Carolina 12
For a second-consecutive day, Western Carolina fell behind Big Ten foe Maryland by two runs after the top half of the first inning. And for the second time in the two series meetings, the Catamounts hit a homer as part of a rally in the home half of the opening frame to lead after one inning. However, on Saturday afternoon, the Terrapins erupted offensively, storming back from the 5-2 deficit to even the best-of-three nonconference series with the Catamounts with a historic 35-12 win over WCU at Childress Field / Hennon Stadium.
Miami (OH) 12, ETSU 2
The ETSU baseball team split a doubleheader against Miami (OH) on Saturday afternoon at Thomas Stadium. Miami won game one by a score of 12-2 in eight innings. In the second contest of the day, which was scheduled for seven innings, the two teams played an extra frame and freshman Henry Ferguson walked off the Redhawks with a pinch-hit RBI single to win it for the Bucs, 2-1. Saturday's results move ETSU's record in 2025 to 4-2.
