Saturday's Baseball Roundup

Wofford Baseball Secures Late Comeback Win on Rainy Saturday Afternoon
Down 5-4 entering the bottom of the eighth, the Wofford baseball team put together a late rally that concluded with Ryan Wynn hitting a go-ahead single, which proved to be the game winner as Wofford claimed a 6-5 triumph over Mercer at Russell C. King Field. It was a damp Saturday afternoon that featured a 43-minute rain delay in the fourth inning. The Terriers improve to 27-21 (5-9 SoCon) as the Bears drop to 30-19 (9-8 SoCon).

Bears Fall Late To Wofford
Ty Dalley tied the Mercer career home run record with his 56th career home run on Saturday, but the Bears fell to Wofford in the late innings by a score of 6-5.   Dalley (2-for-4) hit his 17th home run of the season, while Zack Thompson (1-for-3) hit a three-run home run to lead the Bears offensively. Braydon Kersey (2-4) took the loss, while Carter Rasmussen (4-2) got the win for Wofford.

Missed Opportunities Again Slow Upset-Minded Catamounts
Consecutive two-run innings by Georgia Tech in the sixth and seventh thwarted a gallant effort by Western Carolina as the Yellow Jackets claimed the nonconference series, escaping the upset-minded Catamounts 4-2 on a soggy Saturday at Russ Chandler Stadium. Mason Holton was involved in both of WCU's runs, plating the go-ahead marker on a third-inning run-scoring ground out before coming home himself on a Noah Quarless pinch-hit RBI single in the eighth inning of the two-run defeat

Late Runs Costly In Loss To Miami Of Ohio
The Samford University baseball team gave up six late runs, five in the eighth inning, to fall to Miami of Ohio, 7-1, Saturday evening at Joe Lee Griffin Field. The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was canceled due to inclement weather. With the loss, Samford fell to 23-22 on the season. Miami improved its record to 26-19.
