VMI 21, Holy Cross 9
VMI Baseball kicked off the series against Holy Cross with a dominating victory at Lamore Field at Gray-Minor Stadium on Friday. The Keydets move to 11-1 and have now won eight-straight home games after defeating the Crusaders, 21-9, in seven innings. VMI picked up its seventh run-rule victory and scored 10+ runs for the 11th time.
Samford 15, UT Martin 4
The Samford University baseball team pounded out a 15-4 win in eight innings in the first game of a three-game series at UT Martin Friday afternoon. With the win, Samford improved its record to 7-7. UT Martin dropped its season record to 5-7 with the loss. Samford was led in the win by Michael Gupton, going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBI. Cade Carr went 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI. Jake Souders went 2-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI. Trey Higgins also went 2-for-4 with a triple, while Cullen Horowicz hit a two-run homer in his lone at-bat of the game.
The Citadel 4, Northwestern 2
Garrett Fulmer hit his first home run of the season in a 4-2 win over the Northwestern Wildcats in the series opener on Friday afternoon inside Joe Riley Park. Will Holmes picked up his third win of the season.
Mercer 6, Southern 0
The Mercer baseball team recorded their second consecutive shutout for the first time since 2022 to take Friday's series opener, defeating Southern by a score of 6-0 at OrthoGeorgia Park. Colton Cosper (2-1) turned in his second dominant start in a row, tossing seven shutout innings with five strikeouts and no walks to get the win, while Craig Kalkbrenner finished off the shutout with two scoreless frames of his own out of the bullpen. Titan Kamaka (1-for-3) returned to the lineup for the first time in two weeks and blasted a two-run home run and Ty Dalley (2-for-4) and Drew Johnson (2-for-3) delivered multi-hit performances to lead the Bears at the plate.
UNCG 8, Radford 2
The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team picked up an 8-2 win over the Radford Highlanders to open a three-game non-conference weekend series on Friday afternoon at UNCG Baseball Stadium. The Spartans got it done with excellent pitching from Sam Murchison, who pitched six complete innings and matched a season-high with nine strikeouts, and Mayson Dear, who pitched three innings in relief to earn his second save of the season.
No. 23 Kentucky 12, Wofford 2
The Wofford baseball team played No. 23 Kentucky close in the early innings, but the Wildcats pulled away late to secure a 12-2 win Friday evening at Kentucky Proud Park. Wofford falls to 11-3 on the season as Kentucky improves to 11-1. Branton Little (2-1) started for Wofford and suffered the loss after allowing six runs (five earned) in 4.0 innings of work. He struck out three. Alec Bouchard pitched 1.2 innings of relief, and Michael Sills faced one batter, getting a flyout. Kentucky starter Nic McCay (3-0) picked up the win after tossing 6.0 innings with one run (unearned) allowed. He surrendered three hits and walked four.
Pittsburgh 7, ETSU 4
In its longest game of the 2025 season, the ETSU baseball team fell to Pittsburgh by a score of 7-4 in 12 innings on Friday afternoon at Thomas Stadium. Friday's loss moves ETSU's record to 10-3 this spring. For the ninth time in 13 games, the Buccaneers totaled 10 hits or more on Friday. Lenny Montesano continues his stellar start to his first season as a Buc going 3-for-5 with a RBI. JD Yakubinis and Will Smoot also had two-hit outings against the Panthers to help lead the ETSU offense.
Georgia State 12, Western Carolina 7
Western Carolina baseball out-hit Georgia State 16-to-10 on Friday night in the nonconference series opener at the GSU Baseball Complex but was unable to take advantage of that edge in base hits and a trio of Georgia State errors as the Catamounts dropped the series opener 12-7. Georgia State (11-3) scored multiple runs in four different innings, including two in the second, four in the fourth, three in the fifth, and three in the eighth to distance itself from WCU, overcoming an early one-run deficit. The Catamounts left a runner on base in all nine innings, stranding 13 on the paths in the loss.
