Keydets take down Catamounts, win SoCon series
VMI Baseball capped off its road swing with a series victory over Western Carolina on Sunday at Hennon Stadium. The Keydets (16-8, 2-1 SoCon) played off of the Catamounts' five errors, scoring a massive 11-7 win for their first Southern Conference series win. This marks just the fifth time VMI has taken a series in Cullowhee and the eighth series win against Western Carolina in program history. It is also the first time the Keydets have won their first conference series of a season since 2010 and the first time they have won their first SoCon series of a season since 2003.

Catamounts Drop Sunday’s Series Finale to VMI
Western Carolina made a late push on Sunday afternoon with a five-run seventh inning, but a combination of five miscues and 13 freebies were too much to overcome as VMI claimed the Southern Conference series rubber match 11-7 at Childress Field / Hennon Stadium. WCU committed five errors while issuing eight walks and four hit batters in the loss despite out-hitting the Keydets 13-to-8 in game three.

Bulldogs Use Long Ball To Take Down ETSU, 13-7
The Samford University baseball team hit five home runs on its way to a 13-7 win over ETSU in the final game of a three-game Southern Conference series Sunday afternoon at Thomas Stadium. With the win, Samford improved its record to 13-11 overall and 1-2 in Southern Conference play. ETSU fell to 18-5 overall and 2-1 in league play. Jeffrey InceJake SoudersParker McDonaldGatlin Pitts and Trey Higgins each homered in the win for Samford.

Samford knocks off ETSU on Sunday, 13-7
The ETSU baseball team saw its six-game winning streak come to an end on Sunday as Samford knocked off the Bucs by a score of 13-7. The loss, which is just the third for ETSU at home this spring moving their record to 17-3 at Thomas Stadium, moves the Bucs' overall record to 18-5 and 2-1 in SoCon action. ETSU had four players have two hits on Sunday. Jamie PalmeseCody MillerJD Yakubinis and Axel Melendez all tallied multi-hit performances. Miller along with Cooper Torres and Tristan Curless also launched home runs to round out the offensive leaders for the Bucs.

Bears Score Three Runs In Ninth Inning To Stun The Citadel
Down 7-3 going into the eighth inning, the Mercer baseball team scored twice in the eighth and three times in the ninth to stun The Citadel on Sunday afternoon. Drew Johnson (2-for-4) drove in three runs to cap a big weekend, while Ty Dalley (1-for-3) tied the game with a solo home run in the ninth and Zack Thompson (1-for-4) came through with a go-ahead 2-RBI double to take the lead. Ely Brown (4-for-4) had his first four-hit performance of the season and scored three runs. Terry Busse (1-0) tossed the final two innings and stranded the bases loaded in the ninth to get the win, while Anthony Hausner (1-2) took the loss for The Citadel. 

The Citadel Bulldogs Fall Late to Mercer 9-7
The Citadel scored seven runs on ten hits. Three Bulldogs recorded a multi-hit day. It is the third straight game The Citadel had three or more in the lineup record multiple hits. Phillips Daniels recorded two doubles and two RBIs. Daniels has four doubles and ten RBIs on the season. Travis Elliott went 2-for-3 with a run batted in. He also drew two walks. Tyler Christmas came in for Lively and went 2-for-2 and an HBP. His first two-hit game of the season. Anthony Hausner (1-2) recorded the loss for The Citadel after surrendering three earned runs on three hits. Terry Busse (1-0) won after throwing 2.0 innings with zero earned.

Wofford Baseball Falls to Villanova in Game Three of Series
The Wofford baseball team gave a late push Sunday afternoon at Russell C. King Field, but the early deficit proved too large to overcome as Villanova salvaged the series with a 10-5 win. The Terriers drop to 17-8 on the year at the Wildcats improve to 12-10. Four pitchers took the mound for each team with Wofford's starter, Dylan Rhadans (0-1), suffering the loss.

UNCG Baseball Falls 6-4 in Series Finale Against UConn
The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team fell, 6-4, in the finale of a three-game weekend series against the UConn Huskies in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon at UNCG Baseball Stadium. The Spartans scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning for the game's first lead. Luke Holland drove in the first run by lining a single into left to score Jeremy Wolf from second. Holland later scored on an inside-the-park home run hit down the line and into the right-field corner by Case Kermode.
