Wednesday's Men's Basketball Roundup

Filewich's season-high 18 points lead Wofford in rout of VMI

Wofford were dominant in victory, powering past VMI by a final score of 82-43 at Cameron Hall on Wednesday evening. The Terriers started fast, accumulating a 27-point lead into the break. They did not let up in the second half, increasing their lead to as large as 40 points.

Kyler Filewich was efficient in 21 minutes of play, contributing 18 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the field to lead the way for Wofford.

Rickey Bradley scored 17 points, while Linus Holmstrom added another nine to lead the way for VMI.


Robinson scores 21 points to lead Mercer past The Citadel

Mercer ended its five-game losing skid, defeating The Citadel in a 62-52 contest on Wednesday evening at McAlister Field House. The Bears went into the break leading by four points, and then outscored the Bulldogs 33-27 over the final 20 minutes to secure the win.

Ahmad Robinson recorded 21 points, while adding seven assists and five rebounds to lead Mercer.

The Citadel was led by Brody Fox, who scored 23 points while collecting six boards.


ETSU defeats UNC Greensboro behind Peterson's 29-point performance

ETSU took down UNC Greensboro, one of the SoCon's top teams, by a score of 65-49 on Wednesday evening. The game was tied at halftime, but the Buccaneers outscored the Spartans 33-17 over the final 20 minutes to come away with the win.

Quimari Peterson scored 29 points to lead the way for ETSU. Peterson was particularly effective from three-point land, knocking down 7-of-13 attempts.

Kenyon Giles scored 13 points, while Donovan Atwell added another 10 to lead the way for UNC Greensboro.


Chattanooga wins yet another SoCon game, this time over Western Carolina

Chattanooga recorded its eighth straight win, handing Western Carolina a 91-86 loss at McKenzie Arena on Wednesday evening. The Mocs went into halftime trailing 47-45 but outscored the Catamounts by seven points in the second half to come back and win.

Honor Huff scored 27 points to lead the way for Chattanooga. Huff was dangerous from three-point land, connecting on 6-of-8 attempts.

The Catamounts' offense was impressive despite the result. Marcus Kell led the charge, tallying 31 points.


Furman gets a big win at Samford

Furman got an important victory on the road against Samford, winning 80-72 on Wednesday night. The Paladins held a 43-30 lead at halftime, and held off a late Bulldogs rally to win.

PJay Smith Jr. matched a career-high with 32 points to lead the way for Furman, connecting on six 3-pointers in the game.

Jaden Brownell scored 25 points for Samford to top the leaderboard for the Bulldogs.
