Saturday's men's basketball roundup

Furman 69, Princeton 63

Senior PJay Smith Jr. totaled 23 points, and the Paladin defense turned up the heat down the stretch as Furman claimed a 69-63 victory over the Princeton Tigers on Saturday afternoon at in front of 3,227 at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

Queens 81, VMI 78

Down 46-33 at halftime, the VMI basketball team made a furious comeback but fell just short in the end as visiting Queens University (N.C.) prevailed by an 81-78 score Saturday afternoon at Cameron Hall.

UNCG 67, North Carolina A&T 55

The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team defeated crosstown rival North Carolina A&T, 67-55, on Saturday afternoon at Corbett Sports Center.
 
Three Spartans registered double figures with Kenyon Giles pacing the game with 25 points to match his career high. Donovan Atwell scored 15 points and Jalen Breath registered 10 points and 10 rebounds. This was Breath's fourth-career double-double.

USC Upstate 74, Western Carolina 68

Senior Bernard Pelote and redshirt sophomore Cord Stansberry led the Catamounts offense with 14 points apiece, but Western Carolina couldn't overcome an 18-2 run from visiting USC Upstate out of the halftime locker room as the Spartans claimed the 74-68 win on Ingles Court at the Ramsey Center on Saturday afternoon.
 

Elon 79, Wofford 56

The Wofford men's basketball team (4-6) dropped its first road game of the month 79-56 to the Elon Phoenix (6-3) at the Schar Center on Saturday night. The Terriers struggled from the field, shooting just 29.7 percent on the night.
 
Elon shot 59.6 percent (28-47) from the field while knocking down 11 three-pointers at a 50 percent clip. Wofford finished the night shooting 29.7 percent while hitting nine threes. Three Terriers finished in double-figures with Corey Tripp leading the way at 12 points. Justin Bailey and Jackson Sivills followed the senior guard with 11 points each.

Wichita State 96, ETSU 87

Jaden Seymour poured in a game-high 25 points, while four Buccaneer starters scored in double figures; however, ETSU men's basketball fell in a shootout at Wichita State, 96-87 on Saturday night inside Charles Koch Arena.
