UNCG tops Chattanooga at the buzzer

UNCG 78, Chattanooga 75

UNCG - Graduate student Ronald Polite III hit the game-winning three-pointer to give UNC Greensboro (UNCG) a 78-75 victory over Chattanooga on Thursday evening in The Southern Conference (SoCon) battle at McKenzie Arena.
 
The Spartans extended their win streak to four with the win and now have the 29-28 edge in the overall series. UNCG has won five-straight games at McKenzie Arena against Chattanooga.

UTC - In a back-and-forth thriller, the Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team suffered a 78-75 buzzer-beating defeat to UNCG during Southern Conference action on Thursday evening in front of 2,867 fans inside McKenzie Arena.
 
Chattanooga (9-7, 1-2 SoCon) tied the game, 75-75, after Honor Huff connected on his first triple of the game with just 3.1 seconds on the clock. UNCG (10-6, 3-0 SoCon) saw guard Ronald Polite III take a few dribbles after a rolled inbounds pass and knock down a contested three at the buzzer to give the Spartans a 78-75 road victory.

Samford 81, VMI 68

SAM -  The Samford men's basketball team hosted VMI tonight at the Pete Hanna Center. The Bulldogs ran their home winning streak to 27 straight games, which is tied for the third-best streak in the nation, after an 81-68 win tonight. The victory moves Samford's record to 13-3 on the year and 3-0 in Southern Conference play while VMI falls to 6-10 on the season.

VMI - The VMI basketball team fought and  battled against host Samford but ultimately fell by an 81-68 score Thursday night at the Pete Hanna Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
 
The Keydets (6-10, 0-3) kept pace with the Bulldogs (13-3, 3-0) the entire first half and trailed by just seven, 47-40, at the half.
