About the Championship

The 2010 Southern Conference Men’s Golf Championship will be held on Sunday April 18th through Tuesday April 20th at the Country Club of South Carolina in Florence, SC for the fourth year in a row. This will be the 74th Annual Southern Conference Men’s Golf Championship. The SoCon recently signed a contract extension with the Country Club of South Carolina to play there through 2012.

The first round of the championship will tee off at 8:00 a.m. ET on Sunday, April 18th. The second and third rounds will also begin at 8:00 a.m. ET on Monday, April 19th and Tuesday, April 20th at the Country Club of South Carolina. The team champion will receive the league’s automatic bid into the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship. The conference medalist will also qualify individually for NCAA postseason play should their institution not advance to regionals. The leagues’ coaches will vote in a 10-member All-Conference team at the championship.

At last year’s tournament Chattanooga won their third straight conference title with 852 strokes, earning them a spot in the NCAA championship, where they had an 18th place finish at their first-ever NCAA finals appearance. Chattanooga was followed closely by second-place Georgia Southern, who finished with 854 strokes. Drew Lethem of Georgia Southern shot a 210 in three rounds to become the SoCon Individual Medalist. Georgia Southern earned an at-large appearance in the NCAA Regionals, finishing in 10th place at the Southeast Regional.
