About the championship

The 2011 Southern Conference Men's Golf Championship will be held on Sunday, April 17th through Tuesday, April 19th, 2011 at the Country Club of South Carolina in Florence, S.C. for the fifth straight year.  The SoCon signed a contract extension last year with the Country Club of South Carolina to play through next year; 2012. This will be the 75th Annual Southern Conference Men's Golf Championship.

The first and second round of the championship will tee off at 9:00 a.m. ET on Sunday, April 17th and Monday, April 18th.  The third round is scheduled to tee off at 8:00 a.m. ET on Tuesday, April 19th at the Country Club of South Carolina.  The team champion will receive the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship.  The conference medalist will also qualify individually for NCAA postseason play should their institution not advance to regionals.  The leagues' coaches will vote in a 10-member All-Conference team at the championship.

In Florence, S.C. last year, Furman junior Austin Reeves fired a final round 70 to claim individual medalist honors and lead Furman to the team championship at the 2010 Southern Conference Men's Golf Championship at the Country Club of South Carolina.  With the win, Furman earned an automatic bid to the 2010 NCAA Men's Golf Regional. The Southern Conference had three institutions qualify for the NCAA Regionals in 2010 (Furman, Georgia Southern and Chattanooga) along with two Wofford College individuals (Garrett Medieros and Mark Joye). Georgia Southern capped its season with its 19th overall NCAA Championship appearance finishing 30th in the nation.
