Chattanooga’s Johnson named SoCon men’s golfer of the week
Shot 2-under at the Steelwood Collegiate
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga’s Carson Johnson have been selected as the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from Oct. 23-29. The selection is made by the league office.
Johnson shot a 2-under-par at the Steelwood Collegiate in Loxley, Alabama, which wrapped play on Tuesday. The native of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, posted rounds of 69-71-74 for a tournament score of 214. The senior finished the event with two eagles and 11 birdies, along with being tied for sixth in par-3 scoring (2.91).
Chattanooga finished seventh in the 14-team, 78-golfer field, with 2-under 862 performance. The Mocs shot 289 in the first round, 281 in the second round and 292 in final round. Chattanooga defeated three Power Five teams in the tournament.
The Mocs will play their next tournament next semester in Westlake Village, California, at the Southwestern Invite on Jan. 27-29.
