Furman’s Barth named SoCon men’s golfer of the week
Finished in the top 5 at the Hootie at Bulls Bay
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Harris Barth has been selected as the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 19-25. The selection is made by the league office.
Barth, who also won the honor alongside teammate Clark Akers on Oct. 23, finished tied for fifth at the Hootie at Bulls Bay in Awendaw, South Carolina, which wrapped play on Tuesday. The junior posted rounds of 69-69-68 for a tournament score of 206 (-10). The native of Atlanta, Georgia, finished in the top 10 of the tournament in par-5 scoring (4.53) and completed the event with 14 birdies, including six in the final round.
Furman placed third at the Hootie at Bulls Bay in the 15-team, 84-golfer field with a tournament score of 837. The Paladins shot 279 in the first round, 281 in the second round and 277 in the final round. Furman, who defeated 48th-ranked New Mexico in the event, had all five players shoot par or better in the final round.
The Paladins will play their next tournament at the Haskins Invitational in Augusta, Georgia, on April 5-6.
