Men’s soccer players of the week announced

Wofford’s Delan Mettee and ETSU’s Marc Kouadio honored

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford forward Declan Mettee and ETSU goalkeeper Marc Kouadio have been named the Southern Conference men’s soccer offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all competition Oct. 1-7.

Mettee contributed three points to Wofford’s 3-2 victory over Gardner-Webb on Saturday, Oct. 5. The sophomore forward scored the first goal of the game in the 37^th minute off an assist by Thaddeus Dennis. In the 43^rd minute of the game, the Asheville, North Carolina, product logged an assist to Dennis, resulting in a second goal for the Terriers.

Kouadio turned in record-setting performance this week for ETSU. In a 0-2 loss to Wake Forest, the senior goalkeeper made 14 saves, a single game record for the Bucs program, on 16 shots on target. Later in the week, the Montreal, Canada, native produced a shutout against VMI, making six saves in 2-0 victory. Kouadio leads the SoCon in saves (52) and saves per game (5.2).

Wofford (4-2-1) travels to Wake Forest on Tuesday, then hosts ETSU on Saturday. ETSU (2-5-3, 1-0-0 SoCon) visits Winthrop on Tuesday.
