Men’s soccer players of the week announced

Mercer’s Kadeem Agard and UNCG’s Tim Baerwalde honored.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer forward Kadeem Agard and UNCG goalkeeper Tim Baerwalde have been named the Southern Conference men’s soccer offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all competition Oct. 8-14. 

 

Agard logged a hat trick to account for all of Mercer’s goals in a 3-0 victory against VMI on Saturday, Oct. 12. The senior from Snellville, Georgia, scored in the fourth, 55th, and 79th minutes of the game for the first hat trick by a Bear since 2021. With his performance, Agard is now tied for second in the SoCon in goals (4).

 

Baerwalde made his debut with the Spartans on Saturday, facing 13 shots, three of which were on target, in a 1-0 victory over Furman. The Frankfurt, Germany, native made three saves to record a clean sheet, the fourth of his collegiate career. A junior, Baerwalde played all 90 minutes in goal for the Spartans.

 

Mercer (5-2-5, 1-0-1 SoCon) travels to Georgia State on Tuesday, then hosts ETSU on Saturday. UNCG (6-1-4, 1-0-1 SoCon) hosts Elon on Tuesday, then travels to Wofford on Saturday.
