Mercer’s Hod’Abalo Isak Padio named SoCon player of the week
Junior went 4-0 against ETSU and The Citadel

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Hod’Abalo Isak Padio has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for all competition from March 25-31. The selection is made by the league office.
In a 4-3 comeback victory over ETSU, the reigning conference champions, on March 27, Padio teamed up with Amen Prince Gandonou to defeat Peter Kalocsai and Martin Garcia-Ripoll at the No. 1 position, 6-3. At the No. 2 singles spot, the junior defeated Garcia Ripoll in straight sets, 7-5, 7-5.
On March 29, the Bears defeated The Citadel, 6-1. Padio again partnered with Gandonou for doubles and the duo beat the Bulldogs’ Noah Van Dyke and Tucker Hendrix, 7-5. In singles, the Lome, Togo, product bested Ted Bagwell in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.
Mercer (8-6, 3-0 SoCon) will travel to Furman on Wednesday, April 2, then return to Macon for a Sunday matchup against UNCG.
