The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team earned a 5-2 victory over the Wofford Terriers in The Southern Conference (SoCon) action on Monday afternoon at the UNCG Tennis Courts. Wofford got on the board first by earning the doubles point. After Jack Deveney and Robbie Young defeated John Gabelic and Tymofiy Khrystyuk, 6-3, Andrew Black and Devon Moskowitz teamed up to take down Wofford's Daniel Clivio and Jack Burdell, 7-5. However, the Terriers earned the doubles point with Ian Rasheed and Hugo Rask taking down UNCG's William Elmers and Luke Thomson, 7-6 (2), in the third doubles match.
The Wofford College men's tennis team was defeated 5-2 by UNC Greensboro on Monday afternoon at the UNCG Tennis Courts. The Terriers won the doubles point, but the Spartans won five of the six singles matches to secure the SoCon win. Wofford had a late lead in all three doubles matches. Robbie Young and Jack Deveney had a 6-3 win at the #1 position and the Spartans claimed a 7-5 win at the #3 position. The duo of Ian Rasheed and Hugo Rask picked up a 7-6 (7-2) win at the #2 position to clinch the doubles point for the Terriers.
Mercer 4, James Madison 0
Mercer surrendered just two games apiece in winning a pair of doubles matches, and then breezed to a trio of singles victories on the way to a 4-0 shutout of visiting James Madison on Monday afternoon at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center. The shutout, which took just less than two hours to complete, snapped a two-match skid for the Bears (5-6) who improved to 4-2 on their home court with the decision as well. The Dukes (5-6) have now dropped two-straight matches, and fell to 2-5 away from Harrisonburg, Va., with the setback as well.
