2006 Southern Conference Men's Championship Results From Semifinal Round

CHARLESTON,S.C.? Second seeded Furman defeated third seededCollegeofCharleston, 4-1, in the semifinals of the Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Championships at theEarleTennisCenteron the campus of The Citadel. Furman improves to 19-10 while theCollegeofCharlestonconcludes the 2006 campaign at 17-6.
Furman picked up the doubles point, claiming victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 pairings with two tightly-contested wins at those positions. Brian Crook and Bo Ladyman defeated Omer Abramovich and Mike Reynolds 9-8 at No. 2, while Andy Juc and Scott Kahler claimed an 8-4 over Justin Malina and Jimmy Petit at the No. 3 position
With an ominous weather forecast, singles play began with Furman getting on the board, winning at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions. Bo Ladyman scored a 6-4, 6-3 victory Omer Abramovich at No. 4, while Daniel Knause got a 6-4, 6-3 win over Ashok Ramanchandra at No. 5. After several rain delays, Furman clinched the match when Andy Juc held off Marcus DiGliodo 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 2 position.
The Paladins advance to the finals where they will meet No. 4 Chattanooga on Sunday, April 23 at 10:30 a.m. at theEarleTennisCenteron the campus of The Citadel.

Chattanoogaearned the doubles point by virtue of victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. Josh Bales and Mark Fynn defeated Damon Gooch and Austin Fenn 8-4 at the No. 1 position, while Badr Bouabdellah and Artyom Vlasenko defeated Anuwat Dalodom and Gustaf Asplund 8-4 at the No. 3 position to garner the doubles point forChattanooga.
In singles play,Chattanoogaused victories at the No.3, 4 and 6 positions to claim the match. Badr Bouabdellah clinched the match forChattanoogawith a 2-6, 6-1, 6-0 win over Sebastian Bredburg at the No. 3 position. Mark Fynn defeated Gustaf Asplund 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 4 position, while Josh Bales defeated Kevin Beard 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 6.
