Saturday's Men's Tennis Semifinal Results

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Top-seeded ETSU advanced to Sunday's final of the 2016 Southern Conference Men's Tennis Tournament with a 4-0 win over No. 5 Wofford Saturday morning at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.
The Bucs quickly earned the doubles point with wins at the bottom of the order. Sebastian Yllera and Ismaiel Merino secured a 6-2 win over Trevor Gotkowski and Kyle Barr, while Diego Nunez and Robert Herrera followed with a 6-2 victory over Haris Poric and Andrew Graham.
Herrera gave the Bucs (17-5) a 2-0 lead with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Kyle Barr at No. 4 singles.
Ismael Merino's 6-1, 6-2 win over Andrew Graham at No. 6 singles gave the Bucs a 3-0 lead just before Rogerio Ribeiro's 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles over Parks Thompson gave the Buds the match win.
Wofford closes it season with a record of 10-13.
#3 Furman 4, #2 Samford 3
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Trailing 2-1 against No. 2 Samford, the third-seeded Furman Paladins picked up wins at the top three singles positions to claim a 4-2 win and advance to Sunday's Men's Tennis Tournament final against ETSU.
The Paladins (13-10) opened the match with a 1-0 lead after taking the doubles point. Alex Steryous and Cameron Green took a 6-1 decision at No. 2 doubles over Jake Faundez and Eduardo Lourido. From there Furman's top pair of Matt Browne and Ben Horst held off Leonard Gerch and Trey Carter, 6-2 to give the Paladins the early lead in the match.
The Bulldogs (13-5) pushed ahead 2-1 at the start of singles play with wins from Faundez at No. 6 and Leonard Gerch at No. 4.
The top of Furman's singles lineup then took over with wins from Adam Steryous at No. 1, Cameron Green at No. 2 and Matt Browne at No. 3.
Steryous topped Fares Kilani, 6-3, 6-4 while Green held off Carter, 6-4, 7-6. Matt Browne's three-set win (6-7, 6-3, 6-4) over Justin Ghavami sent the Paladins through to Sunday's final.
