ETSU’s Peter Kalocsai named SoCon player of the week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Peter Kalocsai has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for all competition from April 8-14. The selection is made by the league office.

On Wednesday, April 9, in a 5-2 victory against Furman, Kalocsai teamed up with Martin Garcia-Ripoll to defeat Elijah Poritzky and Matt Kandell, 7-6 (11-9), at the No. 1 doubles court. In singles competition, the Budapest, Hungary, product defeated Kandell in straight sets, 6-2, 7-6.

In a 7-0 triumph over The Citadel on Saturday, the senior again joined Garcia-Ripoll to take down Noah Van Dyke and Tucker Hendrick, 6-3. Kalocsai then logged a straight set victory against Van Dyke in singles, 6-2, 6-4.

ETSU (12-6, 6-1 SoCon) will play The Citadel on Thursday, April 17, in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference Championship at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
