Thursday's Men's Tennis Roundup

Mercer 4, Queens 2
Queens got a tight victory on Court No. 1 to capture the doubles point and set the early momentum, but Mercer tacked up a quartet of singles wins, including Amen Prince Gandonou's three-set thriller on Court No. 3, to post a 4-2 win over the visiting Royals on Thursday afternoon at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center. It was the third home win of the season for the Bears (4-4) who have now registered consecutive victories for the first time this season. Queens (2-7), who tallied a convincing 5-2 home win over UNC Greensboro earlier this season, has now come away empty in its last three outings.

College of Charleston 5, Wofford 2
On Thursday afternoon, the Wofford College men's tennis team was defeated by the College of Charleston by a 5-2 score at the Reeves Tennis Center. The Terriers won the doubles point, but the Cougars won five of the six singles matches. The Terriers #1 doubles team of Robbie Young and Jack Deveney took an early 4-1 lead and then broke serve to win 6-2. At #2 and #3 doubles, both matches were tied at 2-2. The #2 team of Hugo Rask and Ian Rasheed went on for a 6-4 win that secured the doubles point. Daniel Clivio and Jack Burdell were ahead 5-4 at the #3 position, but it was unfinished.
