Furman duo earns All-America honors
Paladins' Graham, Schubert wrap seasons at NCAA Championships

STILLWATER, Okla. – Furman’s Dylan Schubert finished 11th, while Bethany Graham placed 27th to earn All-American accolades Saturday at the 2022 NCAA Cross Country Championships at the Greiner Family Cross Country Course in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
A junior from Loveland, Colorado, Schubert posted a time of 29:07.5 on the 10K course to place 11th, the second-highest finish in the history of the Furman men’s cross country program. He joins Aaron Templeton, who placed fifth in 2018, as just the second Paladin men’s cross country runner to finish in the top 15 at the national championship.
Schubert, who qualified for the national meet after placing fourth at the NCAA Southeast Region Championships, was honored as the 2022 SoCon Men’s Runner of the Year after winning the individual conference title and leading the Furman men to their 10th consecutive SoCon Championship. He holds three top-four finishes in 2022 and placed 12th at the Nuttycombe Invitational with an 8K personal best of 23:25.9.
A junior from Aldie, Virginia, Graham finished 27th with a time of 20:04.0 on the 6K course, becoming just the third two-time All-American in the history of the Furman women’s cross country program. Graham, who also earned cross country All-American accolades last season, claimed the Paladins’ seventh All-American citation for cross country since 2015. Allie Buchalski earned the honor in both 2015 and 2017, while Savannah Carnahan was honored as an All-American in 2018 and 2019, and Gabbi Jennings became an All-American for cross country in 2019.
The 2022 SoCon Women’s Runner of the Year, Graham won the individual title at last month’s league championship meet, helping the Paladins to their 10th straight Southern Conference title. She placed fifth at the NCAA Southeast Region Championships to qualify automatically for the NCAA Championships. Graham opened the 2022 season with an individual win at the Furman Invitational 5K then placed second at the Louisville Classic, leading Furman to the team title in Louisville.
