SoCon Announces the 2025 Rifle Athlete of the Year and All-Conference teams

Georgia Southern's Bremen Butler sweeps Athlete of the Year recognition in both disciplines

Georgia Southern’s Bremen Butler has been named the Southern Conference Smallbore and Air Rifle Athlete of the Year, after dominating both disciplines throughout the regular season. She became the fifth athlete to sweep the Athlete of the Year awards after Georgia Southern won its fourth straight SoCon Rifle Championship title.

Butler posted season-highs of 594 and 599 in smallbore and air rifle, respectively. Butler averaged a score of 587.231 in smallbore and 595.462 in air rifle, recording her highest aggregate score on Jan. 11 at Murray State with 1191.

The Fort Wayne, Ind., product fired a 598 in the air rifle relay during the SoCon Championship, matching the record set by former GSU athlete Rosemary Kramer in 2019. The sophomore concluded the SoCon Championships with a bronze finish in the smallbore finals, and a fourth-place finish in the air rifle finals.

Along with Butler’s Athlete of the Year recognition, a five member all-conference first team and second team have been named for both disciplines.
