Friday's softball roundup

UNCG - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team came from behind to take a 2-1 Southern Conference (SoCon) victory over Wofford on Friday evening at UNCG Softball Stadium.
With the win, UNCG improves to 24-10 overall and 2-2 in conference, while Wofford fell to 19-12 overall and 2-2 in the SoCon.
WOF - The Wofford softball team (19-12, 2-2) fell in the first game of the three-game weekend series against UNCG (24-10, 2-2) on Friday, March 28, in Greensboro. The Wofford offense had chances but couldn't capitalize in the 2-1 loss.
Wofford pitcher Margaret Axelson got the start for the Terriers and went six innings while giving up five hits with two runs allowed on four strikeouts. However, the two runs surrendered were enough for the Spartans to give Axelson the loss moving her record to 9-5 on the season.
FUR - Furman plated a pair of runs in the top of the seventh to edge East Tennessee State, 6-4, in the opening game of a three-game Southern Conference softball series Friday at Betty Basler Field.
ETSU - East Tennessee State University softball began its second conference series and first at home with a 6-4 loss to Furman on Friday.

SAM - The Samford softball team was back in action today as they returned to Southern Conference play at Western Carolina. The Bulldogs dominated the Catamounts as their hot bats took down the home side 14-0 and 14-4 in the double header today to claim a series victory. Samford's record moves to 22-14 with the two wins and 4-1 in SoCon play.
WCU - Samford used the power of seven home runs over a pair of games to claim both ends of Friday's Southern Conference doubleheader 14-0 in five innings in game one before a 14-4 win in game two at the Catamount Softball Complex.
