Mercer upsets No. 16 Georgia; UNCG wins over NC State

Chattanooga put up two insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth and held off Jacksonville State in a 3-2 non-conference win at Frost Stadium Wednesday night.The Mocs improve to 25-9 overall while the Gamecocks move to 23-14 on the year. This was the second meeting between the two programs this season with UTC winning both.The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team came from behind for a 4-3 victory over NC State on Wednesday at the UNCG Softball Stadium in non-conference action.
This was the first victory over the Wolfpack since April 3, 2019, when the Spartans won 2-1 in Greensboro. This is the first Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) win for the Spartans since Feb. 27, 2022, when UNCG beat Virginia, 6-4, in Greensboro.

The Wofford softball team (20-16, 2-4) fell short in Columbia, South Carolina on Wednesday, April 2, 2-0 against the University of South Carolina. The Terriers held the #6 team in the nation to just two runs as the Terriers had opportunities as they left six runners on base in the game. Mercer tacked up five runs in the first three innings behind a standout performance in the circle from redshirt junior Hannah Pitts, and the Bears recorded their first win over a nationally-ranked team in seven years with a 5-2 rattling of 6th-ranked Georgia on Wednesday evening at Turner Softball Stadium.
