FUR - Freshman Rachel Hawkins drove in a pair of runs and Emme Buzhardt picked up her second save of the season as Furman topped Wofford, 4-3, in the finale of a three-game series Sunday afternoon at Hope Field on the Wofford College campus.
WOF - Wofford softball (18-11, 2-1) dropped the final game of the three-game weekend series against Furman (11-21, 1-2) on Sunday, March 23, at Hope Field. The back-and-forth affair saw a Wofford comeback attempt cut short 4-3.
ETSU - East Tennessee State University softball won its first conference game on Sunday, 5-2 at Western Carolina.
The Bucs were buoyed by a three-run fourth inning, along with lone runs crossing in the first and fifth.
WCU - ETSU broke a tie at one with a three-run fourth inning to salvage the Southern Conference series finale from Western Carolina 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Catamount Softball Complex. WCU won the series following Saturday's doubleheader sweep.
UNCG - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team bounced back with a 14-6 victory over The Southern Conference (SoCon) foe Chattanooga on Sunday at Frost Stadium.
The Spartans totaled 15 hits in the game which is the 13th contest this season with double figure hits. It is tied for the second most this season.
UTC - Chattanooga softball fell 14-6 to UNC Greensboro in the final game of the three-game Southern Conference opening series Sunday afternoon at Frost Stadium.
Chattanooga moves to 21-9 overall and 2-1 in SoCon play after winning the series. UNCG is 23-9 on the year and 1-2 in league play.
MER - KiKi Daniels, Grace Jones and Hallie Langford all hit home runs as visiting Mercer tacked up crooked numbers in three different frames on the way to a 12-5 rout of Samford in Sunday's Southern Conference series finale.
SAM - The Samford softball team wrapped up a three-game series against Mercer today in its Southern Conference opening weekend. After winning both games yesterday, the Bulldogs fell 12-5 against the Bears today. Samford's record moves to 20-13 after the defeat and 2-1 in league play.
