<div class="payload-richtext">SPARTANBURG, S.C. –  Chattanooga’s Caia Elisaldez has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Nov. 25-Dec. 1.  Elisaldez averaged 19.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game, while shooting 55.6 percent (15-of-27) from the field across two contests.  This week’s performance for the preseason player of the year was marked by game-winning free throws she made, securing a 59-57 win over Sacramento State. The award is selected by the league office. The junior forward also pulled down an average of 8 rebounds per contest and was perfect at the charity stripe. Ikhiuwu’s standout performance included an 18-point, 10-rebound outing where she shot 9-of-13 from the floor, keeping Wofford in contention against Georgia State. Asidanya averaged 20.5 points and 3.5 rebounds across two of the Spartans’ three contests during the opening week of the season. The award is selected by the league office. On Wednesday, Nov. 5, the junior guard scored 19 points on six field goals and went a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line against San Francisco. In a close matchup with Auburn on Nov. 10, the Pittsburg, California, native posted a career-best 22 points, shooting 6-for-12 from the field, 5-for-8 from three-point range, and 5-for-6 from the free-throw line. She also added five rebounds and two steals. Asidanya chipped in six points on 2-for-3 shooting from beyond the arc during UNCG’s season opener at Stanford. One of two Spartans named to the Preseason All-SoCon team, Asidanya currently leads UNCG in field-goal percentage, field goals made, three-pointers made, free-throw percentage, free throws made, total points, and points per game. UNCG returns to action in Clinton, South Carolina, on Nov. 14, to face Presbyterian. <div class="payload-richtext">SPARTANBURG, SC – Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc., Ingles Markets, and the Southern Conference announced the Ingles SoCon Game of the Week broadcast package for basketball on Friday, featuring 19 regular-season games and select coverage at the 2026 Ingles SoCon Basketball Championship. "We're excited to continue our partnership with Nexstar Media Group and Ingles Markets to bring SoCon basketball to television screens across our region," said Southern Conference Commissioner Michael Cross. "This year's slate of games is our most extensive regional media package and our largest women's basketball package in conference history – landmark achievements made possible by Ingles Markets and Nexstar that underscore the growth and excitement surrounding SoCon basketball. These games showcase the competitive excellence and regional rivalries that make the SoCon special. In the Southern Conference, It's All Here – and now more fans than ever can experience it." The Game of the Week slate tips off on Sunday, October 26, with No. 15 Alabama visiting Furman for a 3:00 pm men's exhibition game to introduce newly renovated Timmons Arena. A pair of A-Sun / SoCon Challenge matchups will air on the men's side in November, with Lipscomb at Mercer (November 9, 2:00 pm) and Stetson at Western Carolina (November 16, 1:00 pm). A marquee women's matchup follows the Stetson-WCU game on November 16, with the Catamounts hosting No. 6 Oklahoma at 3:30 pm. "Ingles Markets considers The Southern Conference and Nexstar two of our most valued partnerships," said Ingles Markets Director of Advertising Melissa Leavell. Don't miss any of this year's action!" All 10 men's teams and six of the eight women's teams will play at least once as part of the 2025-2026 Ingles SoCon Game of the Week schedule. The first conference battle comes on January 7, with UNC Greensboro traveling to Spartanburg, SC, to face defending men's champion Wofford at 6:00 pm. Chattanooga visits defending champion UNC Greensboro on January 22 in the first women's conference game in the broadcast package. A men's wildcard matchup will close out the regular-season broadcasts on February 25, with the teams chosen and announced on February 9. The schedule also includes Friday coverage of the Ingles SoCon Basketball Championship on March 6 in Asheville, NC. Nexstar affiliates with the opportunity to air games include: WMYT (Charlotte); WYCW (Spartanburg/Greenville/Asheville); WWCW (Roanoke, VA); WCBD (Charleston, SC); WBTW (Myrtle Beach, SC); WGHP (Greensboro/High Point/Winston-Salem); WHDF (Huntsville/Florence, AL); WJHL (Johnson City, TN). <div class="payload-richtext">SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Chattanooga Mocs were tabbed as the preseason favorites to win the Southern Conference women’s basketball title for the 2025-26 season, according to a vote by the league’s head coaches.  Chattanooga junior guard Caia Elisaldez was voted the SoCon Preseason Player of the Year.  The Whittier, California, native averaged 14.1 points per game last season, ranking second in the league in the category and first in total points scored, with 437.     Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams or student-athletes as part of the balloting. Chattanooga picked up six of the eight possible first-place votes in the coaches’ poll, earning 48 points overall. The Mocs finished 17-15 overall and 9-5 in SoCon play last season. Chattanooga was the conference tournament runner-up before going 1-1 in the WNIT. Head coach Deandra Schirmer’s team returns two starters, including Elisaldez and Gianna Corbitt, both of whom made the preseason all-conference team.  UNCG finished the 2024-25 campaign 25-7 overall and 13-1 in SoCon play, winning the 2025 Ingles SoCon Women’s Basketball Championship for the second time in program history. The Spartans were selected second by the coaches with two first-place votes and 39 points. UNCG guards Makiah Asidanya and Jaila Lee were preseason all-conference selections.     ETSU picked up 38 points to finish third in the coaches’ poll, with Meghan Downing and Carmen Richardson being selected to the preseason all-conference team to represent the Bucs. Wofford’s Molly Masingale made the preseason all-conference team, as the Terriers tallied 28 points, ranking fourth in the poll.     Furman (26 points) and Samford (19 points) followed ranked fifth and sixth, respectively. They each placed one player on the all-conference team, as Clare Coyle was named from the Paladins and Emily Bowman from the Bulldogs.    Western Carolina was picked seventh in the poll with 14 points.  Mercer rounded out the poll with 12 points and accounted for the final selection to the preseason all-conference squad as Ariana Bennett made the team. The 2024-25 season will tip-off on Monday, Nov. 3, with seven teams in action. Two days later, UNCG opens its season. The conference slate of games begins on Thursday, Jan. 8. <div class="payload-richtext">SPARTANBURG, S.C.– The Southern Conference officially released its 2025–26 women’s basketball league schedule Wednesday morning. Ingles serves as the presenting sponsor for this year’s schedule announcement, continuing its support of collegiate athletics across the region. The SoCon’s eight women’s basketball teams will all play double-round-robin, 14-game intraleague schedules, totaling 56 league contests. Conference play begins on Thursday, Jan. 8, with all eight squads in action. In total, 28 conference games take place in January and 26 contests in February. All conference matchups are set for Thursday and Saturday, with exception on Jan. 30 and Feb. 1. The regular season concludes with four conference showdowns on Saturday, Feb. 28.   SoCon Commissioner Michael Cross notes that the conference schedule format reaffirms the leagues commitment to caliber competition.  "The Southern Conference continues to prove that championship-level basketball truly is all here,” said Cross.  “With our comprehensive double-round-robin format ensuring every team faces the ultimate test, extensive broadcast coverage bringing our games to fans across multiple platforms, and venues from the mountains to the coast showcasing the depth and talent of our member institutions, the SoCon remains where basketball excellence meets accessibility. Our programs elevate each other, creating compelling storylines and competitive balance that make every game matter and every night unforgettable." One team welcomes a new coach this season as Matt Wise was named head coach for Samford back in April. Wise previously served as associate head coach and will be entering his fourth season with the Bulldogs program. Prior to his arrival in Birmingham, Wise spent time at Alabama, ETSU, Wyoming, and Florida. The Ingles Southern Conference Basketball Championship will be held March 5-8 at Harrah’s Cherokee Center in Asheville, North Carolina.  UNCG won the regular-season title in 2024-25, its best SoCon finish in the history of the program. The Spartans followed that with a SoCon Tournament crown, winning the championship game, 64-57, in overtime over Chattanooga.  Full broadcast schedules will be announced later, but all eight schools’ home games will air on ESPN+ if not selected for national or regional broadcast.  The 43rd season of Southern Conference women’s basketball opens Monday, Nov. 3.   For the composite league schedule, visit <a href="https://soconsports.com/wbb/schedule/">
