UNC Greensboro stays atop the SoCon with overtime win against ETSU
UNC Greensboro snapped ETSU's three-game win streak in dramatic fashion on Saturday afternoon at Brooks Gym, winning 61-56 in overtime. The Spartans went into halftime trailing ETSU 23-22 but were able to tie things up by the end of regulation. Momentum was on the Spartans' side, as they continued to outscore the Buccaneers 10-5 in overtime. Nya Smith scored 18 points to lead the way for UNC Greensboro. Smith was dangerous from three-point land, connecting on 4-of-8 attempts. Courtney Moore scored 19 points, while Meghan Downing added another 18 to lead the way for ETSU.
Elisaldez leads Chattanooga past Western Carolina in SoCon clash
Chattanooga blew past Western Carolina in a 74-59 rout on Saturday afternoon. The Mocs started by building up a seven-point halftime lead, and sealed the game by outscoring the Catamounts 37-29 over the final 20 minutes. Caia Elisaldez led the way for Chattanooga, putting up a game-high 18 points. Avyonce Carter recorded 18 points and five rebounds, and Tyja Beans contributed another 13 points to pace Western Carolina.
Furman gives home crowd their money's worth in double overtime win against Wofford
Furman secured a victory in a double overtime thriller on Saturday afternoon, defeating Wofford at Bon Secour Wellness Arena by a score of 93-88. Furman went into halftime with a 45-31 lead, but Wofford fought back to tie things up at the end of regulation. The Terriers could not finish the job though, as they were outscored 21-16 in overtime. Tate Walters and Jada Session led the scoring for Furman, each contributing 18 points. Evangelia Paulk recorded 29 points and nine rebounds, and Molly Masingale contributed another 18 points to pace Wofford.
Samford bounces back with decisive win over Mercer
Samford blew past Mercer in a 65-49 rout on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs led by as many as 22 points. Claire Johnson, Kennedy Langham, and Emily Bowman led the way for Samford, contributing 18, 12, and 10 points, respectively. Ariana Bennett recorded 13 points and seven rebounds, and Talia Harris contributed another 11 points to pace Mercer.
