Thursday's Women's Basketball Roundup

Wofford 61, Mercer 51

Down by three at halftime, the Wofford women's basketball team came out of the break with authority to outscore Mercer 35-22 in the second half en route to a 61-51 victory in Hawkins Arena. The Thursday night triumph moves Wofford to 12-5 and 4-0 in Southern Conference play. Mercer falls to 6-13 (1-3 SoCon).

Visiting Wofford connected on 22 of its 27 free throw attempts and shot better than 62 percent amid a game-changing fourth quarter as the Terriers picked up their sixth-straight win with a 61-51 triumph over Mercer on Thursday evening in Hawkins Arena. It was the third-straight loss for the Bears (6-13, 1-3 SoCon) who canned a season-high five 3-pointers, while also registering double-digit free throws for the 13th time in 2024-25. 

Samford 77, Furman 62

The Samford women's basketball team earned its first Southern Conference win of the season in a 77-62 victory over Furman Thursday evening in the Pete Hanna Center. With the win, Samford improved its season record to 6-14 overall and 1-3 in Southern Conference play. Furman fell to 11-9 overall and 1-3 in league action. Samford was led in the win by sophomore Kennedy Langham with 16 points. Redshirt freshman Aubrey Blankenship had 15 points and six rebounds. Freshman Claire Johnson followed with 14 points for the Bulldogs.

Kennedy Langham scored 16 points and Samford used a decisive second quarter and hot 3-point shooting to cruise to a 77-62 victory over Furman in Southern Conference women's basketball on Thursday evening at the Pete Hanna Center. Tate Walters led Furman with 21 points, followed by Jada Session with 17 points and 10 rebounds.  Clare Coyle contributed a season high 14 points and nine caroms.
