Chattanooga’s Gianna Corbitt named SoCon player of the week
Freshman averaged 13.5 points, 10.5 rebounds this week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga’s Gianna Corbitt has been named Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Feb. 11-17, after averaging 13.5 points and 10.5 rebounds this week. This award is selected by the league office.
On Thursday, Feb. 13, Corbitt recorded her fifth double-double of the season in a 69-39 triumph over Mercer. The freshman forward went 6-for-10 from the field for a total of 13 points and secured 12 rebounds for the Mocs.
Against Samford on Saturday, Feb. 15, the Oakland Park, Florida, product scored 14 points and shot 83 percent from the free throw line in a 55-50 setback. Corbitt also tallied nine rebounds, an assist, one block, and one steal. She currently leads the league’s freshmen in rebounds, steals, and blocks.
Chattanooga (12-12, 7-4 SoCon) travels to ETSU on Saturday for a 2 p.m. matchup.
