Wednesday's Women's Basketball Roundup

Furman 85, Georgia State 74

Sydney Ryan poured in 24 points and claimed 12 rebounds to power Furman to a 85-74 victory over host Georgia State in the Panthers' Thanksgiving Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at GSU's Convocation Center. Ryan, who tallied 12 points and 12 rebounds against Campbell in Tuesday tournament first round action, recorded her second double-double of the season.  The junior from Nashville, Tenn., connected on 8-of-16 field goal attempts and headlined a sizzling Paladin 3-point shooting performance by draining 5-of-9 treys.  For the game Furman (5-3) drained a season best 13-of-26 shots from beyond the arc.

ETSU 64, Presbyterian 31

Jacksonville 74, Mercer 49

Home-standing Jacksonville sank 26 of its 35 free throw attempts and used big runs in the second and third quarters to fuel a 74-49 win over visiting Mercer on Wednesday evening in Swisher Gymnasium. It was the second leg of a three-game road trip for the Bears (3-5) who fell to 0-4 away from Macon this season. The Dolphins (4-2) snapped a two-game losing streak with the result, while also moving to 3-0 at home this season as well.
