Wofford’s Evangelia Paulk named SoCon player of the week

Sophomore tallied 29 points in Terriers’ lone game this week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford’s Evangelia Paulk has been named Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Feb. 4-10, after tallying 29 points in the Terriers’ lone game this week. This award is selected by the league office.

On Saturday Feb. 8, Paulk recorded her career high of 29 points in a 93-88 double overtime loss against Furman. The Asheville, North Carolina, native shot 41.2 percent from the field, 57.1 percent from three-point range, and went 11-for-13 from the free throw line. She knocked down two foul shots with one second left on the clock to send the game into overtime and made a clutch three pointer to keep the Terriers alive for a second overtime period.

The sophomore forward/guard also secured nine boards, dished out four assists and logged five steals versus the Paladins. Paulk is currently tied for 14th in the NCAA for steals, with 67 on the year.

Wofford (14-7, 6-2 SoCon) travels to Western Carolina on Thursday, Feb. 13, then to UNCG on Saturday for a matchup between the top two SoCon teams.
