Western Carolina’s Avyonce “AC” Carter named SoCon player of the week
Graduate Guard logged her first career double-double

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Western Carolina’s Avyonce “AC” Carter has been named Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Dec. 10-16, after tallying 16 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists in the Catamounts’ lone game last week. This award is selected by the league office.
Carter’s performance was her first career double-double in a 82-66 Western Carolina victory over the Queens Royals on Dec. 14. The graduate guard went 7-for-12 from the field and 1-for-1 behind the arc. Additionally, the Atlanta, Georgia, native blocked three shots to help lead the Catamounts to their seventh win of the season.
Western Carolina (7-4) travels to Murray State on Thursday then UNC Asheville on Saturday, before returning home to host Southern Wesleyan on Monday.
