Walters, Furman outbattle Chattanooga in overtime
Furman defeated Chattanooga in a 74-70 overtime thriller at McKenzie Arena on Thursday evening. Furman went into halftime with a 31-28 lead, but Chattanooga fought back to tie things up at the end of regulation. The Mocs could not finish the job though, as they were outscored 13-9 in overtime.
This win was led by a balanced scoring effort for Furman. Tate Walters led the scoring with 19 points. Sydney Ryan added 18, while Jada Session also contributed 13 points.
Caia Elisaldez led the way for Chattanooga with 18 points, eight assists, and five rebounds.
Richardson's season-high 16 points lead ETSU past Wofford
ETSU took down Wofford in a back-and-forth 63-57 thriller on Thursday evening. The score was level after 20 minutes of play in a dynamic game that saw nine different lead changes. The Buccaneers had an edge in the second half, though, outscoring the Terriers 37-31.
Carmen Richardson scored 16 points to lead the way for ETSU. Richardson was particularly effective from three-point land, knocking down 4-of-5 attempts.
Evangelia Paulk recorded 20 points and eight rebounds, and Maddie Heiss contributed another 16 points to pace Wofford.
Mercer defeats Western Carolina behind Locke's 18-point performance
Mercer ended its five-game losing skid, defeating Western Carolina in a 51-49 contest on Thursday evening at Hawkins Arena. The game was tied at halftime, but the Bears outscored the Catamounts 30-28 over the final 20 minutes to come away with the win.
Ashlee Locke scored a game-high 18 points to lead the way for Mercer.
Western Carolina was led by Zanoria Cruz, who scored 13 points while collecting eight boards.
UNC Greensboro keeps rolling, adds win over Samford to resume
UNC Greensboro earned a hard-fought win at the Pete Hanna Center on Thursday evening, winning 71-59 against Samford. The Bulldogs went into halftime with a one-point lead, but the Spartans fought back. The sides exchanged the lead five times over the final 20 minutes, with UNC Greensboro able to do just enough to come out on top.
Jayde Gamble scored a game-high 19 points to lead the way for UNC Greensboro.
Samford was led by Aubrey Blankenship, who put up 15 points.
