Chattanooga’s Caia Elisaldez named SoCon player of the week
Sophomore Guard averaged 16 points, 5.5 assists this week
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga’s Caia Elisaldez has been named Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Nov. 19-25, averaging 16 points and 5.5 assists per game as the Mocs went 2-0 last week. This award is selected by the league office.
Elisaldez started her week with a 15-point performance against King University. The sophomore shot 80-percent from the field and went 6-for-6 from the free throw line, while also securing four rebounds and dishing out six assists.
Against Lipscomb, the Whittier, California, native contributed a career high 17 points and five rebounds in the Mocs’ victory. Elisaldez went 7-of-12 from the field and tallied five assists and two steals. She is currently the leading scorer for Chattanooga, averaging 11.4 points per game this season.
Chattanooga (4-3) will participate in the FGCU Homewood Suites Tournament on November 29-30 in Fort Meyers, Florida. They will play Pennsylvania and Florida Gulf Coast.
