SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Emilia Väistö has been selected as the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition to this point in the fall. The selection is made by the league office and is the first one of the season.&nbsp; &nbsp; Väistö finished in third place on the player leaderboard at the Tiger Classic in Clemson, South Carolina, on Monday. The native of Seinäjoki, Finland, posted two rounds of 70-69 for a tournament score of 139 (-5), just two strokes shy of the Tiger Classic’s eventual champion. The freshman, playing in her first collegiate tournament, tallied seven birdies over 36 holes. Väistö performance was the lowest tournament score of any SoCon golfer during the event.&nbsp;&nbsp;Mercer finished the Tiger Classic fifth in the 16-team, 96-golfer field, with a 14-over-par 590 performance.
