Furman’s Morgan Named SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week

Senior won the individual women’s golf championship, holds a 3.59 GPA

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman women’s golfer, Anna Morgan, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from April 10-16.  The selection is made by the conference office.
 
Morgan competed at the Southern Conference Women’s Golf Championship, collecting her second consecutive individual title with a score of 70-75-69 for a three-round total of 214, the fourth-lowest score in tournament history. The Spartanburg, South Carolina, native overcame a one-shot deficit after Monday’s second round by recording six birdies in the final round. Morgan became Furman’s 19th individual champion, logging her fourth victory this season and eight of her career, the most in school history.
 
The senior averaged 69.63 strokes per round this year, the lowest in school history, and holds a 3.59 GPA majoring in Politics and International Affairs.
