Emilia Väistö carded an excellent first round of 4-under, 68 and sits in a tie for first place with Mercer as a team in first place after a strong first round for the Bears on Monday at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational from Royal Kā'anapali Golf Course in Maui, Hawaii. As a team, the Bears finished the day, with a first round of 6-under, 282 which is the lowest round of the season for the Bears. Mercer holds a one shot lead over No. 49 Oregon State in the 17-team field.
