Southern Conference Announces Winter TIAA-CREF All-Academic Team

 
SPARTANBURG, SC -- The Southern Conference today announced its TIAA-CREF Academic All-Conference teams for the winter 2004-05. A total of 93 student-athletes, representing all 12 Southern Conference institutions were named to the team.

The 93 student-athletes averaged a 3.52 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and have competed in at least one-half of their team?s competitions during the winter.

This is the third year that the Southern Conference has named an All-Academic Team by season. The All-Academic teams are made possible by a grant from the Southern Conference?s Education Partner, TIAA-CREF.

The men?s and women?s indoor track and field squads combined for 66 student-athletes on the academic team with women?s basketball adding 21. Appalachian State had the most individuals selected with 14 honorees, followed by Western Carolina with 12 and Davidson with 10.
