NCAA Announces Wrestling Brackets for 2024 Championships
17 SoCon Wrestlers Set to Compete in Kansas City

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The NCAA announced the brackets for the 2024 NCAA Championships on Wednesday, revealing the seeding and opponents for the 17 Southern Conference wrestlers who will travel to the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri, on March 21-23. The SoCon will see 17 wrestlers from six of the nine SoCon schools, with three featured at 133, three at 184, two at 141, 149 and 165, and one wrestler at 125, 157, 174, 197 and heavyweight, each competing for an NCAA title.
Chattanooga’s Brayden Palmer, the 2023 SoCon Tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler and the 2024 SoCon individual champion in the 125 pound weight class, will be making his third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championships after earning the No. 18 seed in the 133 pound weight class a year ago. The Hendersonville, Tennessee, native captured the No. 22 seed and will face Virginia Tech’s Cooper Flynn, the No. 11 seed.
App State’s Ethan Oakley captured the No. 21 seed in his second straight appearance after winning the SoCon’s individual title at 133 pounds and will square off against 12-seeded Sam Latona from Virginia Tech. Campbell’s 22nd-seeded Domenic Zaccone will be making his third consecutive NCAA Championship appearance at 133 pounds after garnering the No. 20 seed a year ago and will face 11th-seeded Cal Poly wrestler Zeth Romney. VMI freshman Dyson Dunham, the third SoCon wrestler in the championships at 133 pounds, garnered the No. 33 seed and will take on Indiana’s 32nd-seeded Cayden Rooks.
Chattanooga’s Isaiah Powe, the SoCon Freshman of the Year, is the No. 17 seed at 141 pounds and will face 16th-seeded Dylan Chappell from Bucknell. Gardner-Webb senior Todd Carter joins Powe as the No. 33 seed at 141 pounds after capturing an at-large bid and is slated to face Maryland’s 32nd-seeded Kal Miller.
App State’s Cody Bond, one of two SoCon wrestlers who garnered a spot in the 149 pound weight class, is the No. 18 seed and will face 15th -seeded Corbyn Munson from Central Michigan. The Citadel’s Jeffrey Boyd captured the No. 32 seed and will face Rutgers’ 33rd-seeded Michael Cetta.
App State’s Tommy Askey is the No. 19 seed at 157 pounds this year and will square off against Iowa State’s 14th-seeded Cody Chittum, while App State’s Will Miller, the SoCon individual champion and No. 32 seed at 174 pounds a year ago, is the 16th seed in the 165 pound weight class this year and will face No. 17-seeded Tyler Lillard from Indiana. Campbell’s Domonic Baker, the No. 26 seed at 165 pounds, will face Oklahoma State’s Izzak Olejnik, the 7th seed.
At 174 pounds, Campbell’s Austin Murphy is the 11th seed after taking home a top-12 finish at the 2021 NCAA Championships. He will square off against Missouri’s Peyton Mocco, the 22nd seed.
Campbell’s Caleb Hopkins, who is making his fourth straight appearance at the NCAA Championships, captured the No. 28 seed at 184 pounds and will face Nebraska’s fifth-seeded Lenny Pinto, while Gardner-Webb’s Jha`Quan Anderson, the No. 32 seed last year, is the 29th seed and will face No. 4 Trey Munoz of Oregon State. No. 33-seeded App State freshman Tomas Brooker rounds out the SoCon trio at 184 pounds and will square off against Anthony D’alesio from Long Island University.
Levi Hopkins of Campbell is the No. 13 seed at 197 pounds, 11 spots ahead of his position at last year’s tournament, and will face No. 20 Evan Bockman of Utah Valley.
Campbell’s Taye Ghadiali, who was named the SoCon Tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler, is making his fourth straight appearance and will go into the NCAA Championships as the highest-seeded SoCon wrestler in his respective weight class at No. 7. He will face Virginia Tech’s 26th-seeded Hunter Catka.
