SoCon women’s soccer players of the week announced

Wofford’s Obradovac and Western Carolina’s Campbell honored

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford forward Ines Obradovac and Western Carolina defender Becca Campbell have been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all competition from Sept. 3-9.

Obradovac started both games for Wofford last week as the Terriers picked up a pair of victories. In 80 minutes of action against Winthrop on Sept. 5, the junior scored one goal and had an assist in the team’s 3-1 win. Obradovac’s assist came on the first goal of the game when she fed teammate Megan Childress for a score in the 16th minute. The Woodstock, Georgia, native’s goal came in the 54th minute, making the score 3-1. On Sept. 8, Obradovac scored the game’s lone goal in the 19th minute of a 1-0 win at Radford.

Campbell led the Western Carolina backline last week as the Catamounts produced two clean sheets in a 4-0 win over Gardner-Webb on Sept. 5, and a scoreless draw at East Carolina on Sept. 8. The graduate student from Edmonton, Alberta, made the game-winning goal in the 12th minute of the contest against Gardner-Webb, giving Western Carolina a 1-0 lead. Campbell leads a Catamount defense that has not allowed a goal in their last three contests.

Wofford (3-4) plays at UNC Asheville on Thursday, Sept. 12, and at USC Upstate on Saturday, Sept. 14. Western Carolina (3-2-2) hosts Presbyterian on Thursday, Sept. 12, and welcomes Winthrop on Sunday, Sept. 15.
