Furman’s Sara Snyder named SoCon player of the week
Senior led Paladins to wins over #42 Rice and Brown

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Sara Snyder has been named the Southern Conference women’s tennis player of the week for all matches played from March 18-124, the conference announced on Tuesday. The award is selected by the league office.
Snyder won the No. 1 singles matchup against Darya Schwartzman, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1, in Furman’s 4-2 defeat of No. 42 Rice on Sunday, March 23. In doubles, she paired with Ellie Schulson at the No. 1 position for a 6-2 takedown of Schwartzman and Fernanda Martinez.
Against Brown on Monday, March 24, the San Juan, Puerto Rico, native teamed up with Schulson at the No. 1 doubles court against Addison Ahlstrom and Lindsey Hofflander. The duo was ahead, 5-2, before the Paladins clinched the doubles point. In singles, Snyder defeated Gabby Soliman 6-2, 6-1.
This is the fourth Player of the Week win for Snyder, who was honored on Jan. 21, Feb. 25, and March 18.
Furman (13-2, 2-0), is ranked 36th and will host Charlotte on Friday, March 28, then travel to Wofford for a Sunday matchup.
