Furman’s Sara Snyder named SoCon player of the week
Senior went 2-0 against Elon

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Sara Snyder has been named the Southern Conference women’s tennis player of the week for all matches played from Feb. 18-24, the conference announced on Tuesday. The award is selected by the league office.
Snyder won both matchups against Elon in a 4-1 team win on Sunday, Feb. 23. At the No. 1 doubles position, Snyder and Ellie Schulson, who are ranked No. 58 nationally, defeated Miray Konar and Helen Sarikulaya, 6-4. Snyder and Schulson are 7-1 this season at flight one.
At the No. 1 singles court, the San Juan, Puerto Rico, native beat Simone Bergeron in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, to secure the second team point for the Paladins. This is the second Player of the Week honor for the senior this season.
Furman (6-2) is ranked 40th nationally and will host Western Carolina on Tuesday, Feb. 25, and UNCG on Thursday, Feb. 27 to begin conference play.
