Tuesday's Women's Tennis Roundup

Wofford 6, UNCG 1
The Wofford women's tennis team earned a 6-1 road win at UNC Greensboro on Tuesday afternoon at the UNCG Tennis Courts. The Terriers won the doubles point and then took five of the six singles matches for the victory. The Terriers swept all three doubles matches. Chloe Elliott and Brianna Wilbur had a 6-1 win at the #1 position. Breda Brennan and Lily Woods had a 6-0 win at the #1 position and Catherine Blouin and Grace Agster claimed a 6-4 win at the #2 position to complete the sweep.

Olivia Gallagher of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team earned a singles win on Tuesday as the team fell 6-1 to the Wofford Terriers at the UNCG Tennis Courts in The Southern Conference (SoCon) play. Wofford tallied the first point of the day after notching all three doubles contests. The Terriers continued their pace into singles play by notching the first five games to clinch the match.

Western Carolina 5, Chattanooga 2
The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision at Western Carolina during a rescheduled Southern Conference match on Tuesday afternoon at the Catamount Complex in Cullowhee, N.C. Chattanooga (10-8, 1-3 SoCon) and Western Carolina (13-7, 3-1 SoCon) battled on Tuesday after seeing its originally scheduled Sunday match rescheduled due to weather. The Catamounts have now won their last seven matches after Tuesday's win and have captured league wins in three of its first four duals.

Furman 6, Mercer 1
No. 39 Furman defeated Mercer, 6-1, Tuesday in midweek Southern Conference women's tennis action at the Mickel Tennis Center on the campus of Furman University. With the victory, the Paladins improve to 14-3 overall and 3-0 in league play, while Mercer drops to 6-12 overall and 2-3 in the SoCon. Furman swept the doubles matches to score the opening point. The Paladins won five singles matches in straight sets.

The Mercer women's tennis team dropped its match on the road to Furman, 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon from Mickel Tennis Center. In doubles action, No. 72 Ellie Schulson and Sara Snyde of Furman defeated Marina de Diego Quinones and Ines Hömberg, 6-0. On court three, Furman's Alexa Griffith and Grace Thomas defeated Jelena Gojkovic and Tea Zivic, 6-1 to clinch the doubles point for the Paladins. The last doubles match between Mercer's Marie Bannmeyer and Dzhastina Mikhnova and Furman's Jess Dawson and Macy Hitchcock went to the Paladins by a score of 6-3.
