Furman Shocks No. 22 Alabama, 4-3, In Season Opener

With the score tied at 3-all, sophomore Macy Hitchcock came from behind for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory over Margaux Maquet at flight five singles as Furman shocked No. 22 Alabama, 4-3, Monday in the season opener for both teams at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C. The Paladins won two out of three doubles matches to claim the opening point.  Seniors Ellie Schulson and Sara Snyder blanked Maquet and Maria Martinez-Vaque, 6-0, at flight one, but Alabama's Klara Milicevic and Sara Nayar evened the slate with a 6-3 victory over seniors Alexa Griffith and Marissa Pennings at flight three.  In the decisive flight two contest, senior Jess Dawson and sophomore Macy Hitchcock came from behind to beat Petra Sedlackova and Maria Andrienko, 6-3, for the point.

Wake Forest blanks ETSU, 7-0

The ETSU women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision on the road at Wake Forest on Monday afternoon. Monday's loss moves ETSU's record to 0-2 on the spring season. The Demon Deacons clinched the doubles point with wins by scores of 6-4 and 6-2. ETSU's tandem of Daniela Rivera and Alessandra Caceres were winning their match, 6-5, when Wake Forest clinched the doubles portion of the match. In singles, Wake Forest won all six tilts in two sets. Ralitsa Alexandrova did force her first frame to extra points but ultimately fell, 7-6 (9-7) and 6-1. Ksenija Rage also nearly won her match dropping a close decision by identical 7-5 final scores.

Catamounts Fall in Season Opener to 12th Ranked Auburn Tigers

Western Carolina women's tennis dropped its spring season-opening doubleheader on Monday at the 12th-ranked Auburn. Match one ended 4-0 in Auburn's favor as the two teams played to clinch, while match two went the distance in a 7-0 decision in favor of the Tigers who remained unbeaten through five matches. All eight Catamounts (0-2) on the roster competed in at least one of the two matches as Isabella SambolaJade GroenChloe SchwarzMadison SchwarzAndrea Redondo, and Zoe Lui each earned the start in court order in the first match of the day. The WCU lineup shifted some in the second match with Angela Perez and Dasha Osadova sliding in on courts three and six, respectively.  

Women’s Tennis Defeats Lee 5-2 to Capture First Win of 2025 Season

The Chattanooga Mocs women's team earned its first victory of the extremely young 2025 season after defeating in-state NCAA Division II-member Lee University 5-2 in non-conference action on a chilly Monday afternoon inside the Strang-Voges Tennis Center on the campus of nearby McCallie School. Lee took an early 1-0 lead in the match after claiming a pair of 6-3 victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles positions. UTC's No. 3 tandem of sophomore Margaret Manolache and freshman Zara Burns battled their way to a 7-5 decision to conclude the doubles portion. It was all Chattanooga in singles action with the first five final results all favoring the hosts to clinch the match's ultimate fourth (and fifth) point. The trio of Emma Pedretti (No. 3), Manolache (No. 6) and Alice Hall (No. 5) kicked things off with convincing wins to help put UTC ahead 3-1 in the match.
