Furman’s Jess Dawson named SoCon player of the week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Jess Dawson has been named the Southern Conference women’s tennis player of the week for all matches played from March 4-10, the conference announced on Tuesday. The award is selected by the league office.
Dawson won both matchups against Austin Peay in a 5-2 team win on Tuesday, March 4. At the No. 2 doubles position, Dawson and Macy Hitchcock defeated Sophia Baranov and Luca Bohlen, 6-1. At the No. 2 singles court, the Hull, East Yorkshire, native beat Denise Torrealba in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4.
Furman (10-2, 2-0), who is ranked 42nd nationally, will host Yale on Sunday, March 16.
