ETSU 4, Wofford 3
The ETSU women's tennis team got back into the win column on Friday afternoon with a 4-3 victory on the road at Wofford. Friday's win, which was just the second loss for Wofford this season, improves ETSU's overall record to 8-7 and 2-0 in SoCon play. ETSU began Friday's contest by securing the doubles point. The duos of Ralitsa Alexandrova/Ksenija Rage and Daniela Rivera/Alessandra Caceres won their matches by scores of 6-2 and 7-5 to give the Bucs the 1-0 lead.
The Wofford women's tennis team was defeated 4-3 by East Tennessee State on Friday afternoon at the Reeves Tennis Center. The Bucs won the doubles point and the two teams split the six singles matches in the close contest. The Bucs won the first doubles match at the #3 position by a 6-2 score. At #2 doubles, Grace Agster and Catherine Blouin were down 0-3 before rallying for a 6-3 win. The deciding match at the #1 position was tied at 3-3, 4-4, and 5-5 before the Bucs won the last two games for a 7-5 win to clinch the doubles point.
Chattanooga 4, UNCG 3
The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team posted a 4-3 victory over UNC Greensboro during its Southern Conference home opener on Friday afternoon at the UTC Tennis Center on campus. Chattanooga (10-7, 1-2 SoCon) picks up its first league victory of the season after Friday's effort and has now won its last five matches against UNCG (3-12, 0-4 SoCon) dating back 2021. The Mocs have won 10 of the last 12 over the Spartans after snapping a six-year drought from 2007-13.
The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team was outlasted in a 4-3 battle with the Chattanooga Mocs in The Southern Conference (SoCon) action on Friday afternoon at the UTC Tennis Center. The Spartans tallied the first point of the contest after securing two of three doubles matchups. The Mocs were able to bounce back by securing the first four singles contests, clinching the match, 4-3.
Charlotte 4, Furman 1
The 36th-ranked Furman women's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision on Senior Day Friday to No. 47 Charlotte at Mickel Tennis Center on the campus of Furman University. The Paladins fall to 13-3 on the season while Charlotte improves to 16-3 overall. Furman won the bottom two doubles matches to claim the doubles point. Jess Dawson and Macy Hitchcock won 6-1 over Prisca Abbas and Lucia Aranda at flight two before Amira Badawi and Sarah Suchankova evened things at flight one with a 6-2 win against Ellie Schulson and Sara Snyder. In the flight three contest, Alexa Griffith and Marissa Pennings closed things out with a 6-4 victory against Shona Nakano and Ni Xi to clinch the point.
