Furman Women’s Cross Country Ranked 30 Nationally
Five SoCon squads regionally ranked.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman women’s cross country has been ranked 30th in the?U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association as well as fifth in the southeast region.
The Furman women’s team returns 17 competitors from last year’s squad.??Senior Bethany Graham, a two-time cross country All-American, won the league’s individual title each of the last two seasons and has gone on to capture the past two SoCon Runner of the Year awards.??Senior Abigail Robertson finished as runner-up at last year’s SoCon Championship meet, followed by senior Emily Little in third place.??All nine of Furman’s competitors from last year’s championship return in 2023.
Samford and ETSU’s women’s cross country teams received 10th and 15th place ranking in the south region, respectively. Samford is preseason number two in the SoCon while ETSU finished in third place in the conference preseason poll.
Furman’s men’s cross country team, who was voted as the preseason favorites in the conference, was ranked seventh in the southeast region while ETSU’s men, the second place team in the SoCon preseason poll, garnered 10th place in the south region.
USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning team strength with current season results in determining predicted team finishes at the NCAA Regional Championships.

The Southern Conference Cross Country Championship will take place on Oct. 27. NCAA regional meets will follow two weeks later, on Nov. 10.
