SoCon announces cross country runners of the week

Furman sweeps this week's recognitions

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Furman’s Madelynne Cadeau and Luke Taylor have named The Southern Conference women’s and men’s cross country runners of the week, respectively, after all competition Oct. 9-15.    

Furman competed at the Royals Cross Country Challenge, in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Oct. 11. Cadeau and Taylor competed in the women’s and men’s gold races, respectively.  

 Cadeau, a graduate student, from Cumming, Georgia, ran a 17:05, finishing second overall in the 5k. Cadeau’s time bested her performance from last year’s event by nine seconds.   

Taylor, a junior, from Rockville, Virginia, finished with an 8k time of 24:03, placing third overall.   

The Paladins will return to action on Oct. 19, with the team spread at two events, the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals in Madison, Wisconsin, and the Upstate Invite in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
