Samford’s men and women swept the 2023 Southern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships for the third straight year, May 8-9 at Western Carolina’s Catamount Athletic Complex. Four meet records fell over the course of the two-day event.
Samford’s Cagan Campbell was named the men’s Most Outstanding Athlete after scoring 25 points on wins in the 200-meter dash (20.98 seconds), 400-meter dash (46.99), 4x100-meter relay (40.11) and 4x400-meter relay (3:13.81).
On the women’s side, VMI’s Eleyah Armstrong scored 27 points to take women’s Most Outstanding Athlete honors. Armstrong won the long jump, finished second in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash, and ran the anchor leg on the Keydets’ fifth-place 4x100-meter relay.
