About the Championship The 2012 Southern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships was held in Birmingham, Alabama on Thursday, February 23rd through Friday, February 24th. The event took place at the brand new state-of-the-art Birmingham CrossPlex. This was the 77th annual Indoor Track Field Championship for the men and the 25th for the women. The 2012 Southern Conference men's champions were the Western Carolina Catamounts who scored 155 points. The Appalachian State Mountaineers finished in second with 154.5 points. Samford came in third with 147.5 points. On the women's side, Appalachian State scored 157.16 points followed by Western Carolina with 113 points in the final standings. Georgia Southern finished in third with 92 points. | |||||
